It’s that time of the month again. Already. I saw this book tag over at FandomsontheRun and I would strongly suggest going to check out the blog. Only just discovered it myself but I love it.
If anyone has any suggestions for book tags, please let me know. I’m starting to struggle finding them or, at least, finding ones that I can actually answer. At least month by month my read pile is growing compared to when I first started.
So without any further ado, let’s explore some characters!
1. Best Kick-Ass Character
This would have to be Ass’hiri from Way Walkers: Tangled Paths. Nothing stands in that guy’s way, not even death. If you’re messing with Jathen, you’re going to have to go through Ass. And you will lose! Love him!
2. Which character do you most dislike?
Regal from the Farseer Trilogy. Far enough, I haven’t yet finished the trilogy, but I highly doubt he is going to change. He is just so manipulative and has destroyed everything for Fitz. Grr. And he tried to kill Burrich, so I’m always going to hate him just for that! Yeah, don’t like this guy!
3. If you could date any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Will from The Infernal Devices. Or Jem… can I have both? I could fall in love with that guy and the things he is prepared to do to keep others safe, even if that means hiding from his own heart. Which could make dating hard but yeah, I would pick Will Herondale with all his tortured soul.
4. If you could change a character in any way, what would it be and why?
Aralias Lyons. I would make him actually settle as either a charming aristocrat, a tormented father or a determined lover. Not a strange mixture of the three that really doesn’t work. I think I would actually give him a character you could describe rather than one where he is completely all over the place in a way that doesn’t really work!
5. What character, to you, made all the wrong decisions and didn’t add anything to the plot?
I would say see above, but I’m trying to branch out with my answers here! I would say Robert from I Wish I Could Remember You. All he did was push Emily and she came to the decision on her own in the end and would have made the same decision without him there. And considering she couldn’t remember him for most of the book, I didn’t really see the point of him (to be fair, I felt the same about most of the characters in this book!)
6. Which character was the best villain that you love to hate?
Is it cheating if I say Murtagh from the Inheritance Cycle because technically he wasn’t a villain, he was forced into that role. Maybe that is why I love him? So I would go for him and if reluctant villains aren’t allowed, I would say Glokta from The First Law. Again, technically not a villain but he was just so mean the whole way through, it was kind of awesome!
7. Favourite side-kick with the most heart
Spinnek from Way Walkers: Broken City (technically, I’m not book repeating!). He wasn’t in it for much, but he definitely saved the day and had such an innocent nature about him despite everything, he would definitely be the side-kick I would want!
8. Favourite Fictional Romance
Definitely Magnus and Alec from The Mortal Instruments. Those two just deserve to be together and I was more than happy in Lady Midnight when it was revealed they do seem to get their happy ending. I could just swoon all day over the adorableness that is these two! Easy winner here!
9. Which character do you think is the strongest?
I’m actually going to say here the unknown narrator from the Gargoyle. He messes up his life, basically kills himself and then deals with past lives and a crazy lady he doesn’t know. And at the end of it all, he finds acceptance in himself. He might not have to fight dragons etc the way other characters do, but I think this guy has an internal strength I haven’t read in other books. Just wish he had a name!
10. Favourite Protagonist?
Oh, I was going to do so well and not book repeat here! But Jathen from Way Walkers. It has to be. I adore that guy! He is in so over his head and yet comes out on top. From all the stuff that I’ve read lately, it is going to take something special to beat Jathen for this question! (In my defence, this is the first book tag I’ve mentioned this series in, so I’m allowed double answers!).
