Another month gone! I have to admit that I have not been very organised for May. In fact, while writing this (about a day before it needs to be posted), I’m also having a catch-up session so I can actually get through the month.
The culprit? Uni, of course. The deadline is next week, which means I’ve only been focusing on work. I also had a two week break over Easter, so I didn’t get nearly as much reading done. Reviews and posts are a bit behind schedule.
I’m making another blog for one of my projects for uni, and oh my word, I am having so much fun. It doesn’t feel like work as I’m just examining different fantasy covers and exploring the themes shown in the various sub-genres. What’s not to like!
Typically, I found a theme that I really liked while making that. It doesn’t work for this blog (I tried), but it has got me thinking about the design again. How do you all decide what design you really like? Or does it just have to feel right?
If my catch-up session goes to plan, here is what is coming up over the next month:
Books: The Idea of You by Amanda Prowse turned up on NetGalley the other week and I thought I would give it a go. I also hoped to finally get one reviewed within the initial three months, so Prowse made the cut.
The Circuit by Rhett C. Bruno has been on my NetGalley list for almost a year – oops! I thought it was time to indulge in some science fiction and give it a go. Hopefully it will be an enjoyable read.
Whisper King: Daughter of Shadows by Wil Radcliffe also made it. I recently re-read the first book, and realised although I had purchased the second, I hadn’t got around to reading it. Time for some monsters, I think!
Blood Forest by Geraint Jones wasn’t my first choice for this month, but there was a mix up with two different series, so I chose to read this instead. I like historical fiction set in this era, so it should be enjoyable.
And finally, The Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks to wrap it off. I enjoyed the previous two, so thought it only fitting to conclude the trilogy. It’s such a long book though!
Films/TV: A few good films have been released on DVD lately. I’m hoping to finally see The Legend of Tarzan now it has been out for a while.
Having just read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, I’m curious to see how they handle the film, so thought I would give that a go.
Of course, Rogue One is on the list, but whether it gets sent is another question! I’m also hoping to watch series 3 of Breaking Bad.
There you have it – my month in reviews!
What do you have planned? Have you read/watched any of these? Let me know in the comments below!
