Book Tag: You’re Not Good Enough

Good morning, lovelies!

I’ve seen this one doing the rounds in a few places and knew I had to give it a go. I’m taking it from Going Through Books as that was the first place I saw it and I loved their answers. The tag was created by ReadLikeWildFire – but the link I tried to follow to tag them was broken so if anyone has a working link of where I can find them, please let me know.

The idea of this one is that you take a couple of characters for each question and you have to chose between them. To keep things interesting, I’ve done mine as a fantasy edition, meaning all my characters have come from fantasy books. Who knows, I might do it again in the future with other books. I had enough trouble figuring out a list of characters even by limiting it through genre.

Anyway, enough waffling…On with the tag!

1. You only have one more spot on your Spelling B team, who would you pick to complete your team?

Choices: Lette (The Dragon Lords trilogy by Jon Hollins) or Harry Potter (J.K Rowling)

Hmm. I’m not certain I would pick either of these. I’d go with Harry though because I’d be more concerned Lette would stab the opposition if we were losing! She might be trying a new way but she’s still too competitive. Not that Harry isn’t, but he’s less prone to violence when losing…

2. Both characters want to kill you, which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

Choices: Arya (The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini) or Simon Snow (Carry On by Rainbow Rowell)

Ah this is much easier. A deadly warrior- dragon rider-princess-elf or a guy who can’t control his own magic? Sorry, Simon, but I’d have to take down Arya first to have any chance. Although I’m not certain you can get the drop on an elf, so the whole exercise might be pointless.  I’d definitely have better odds against Simon.

3. You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette an you’re down to these two characters, which one are you going to give your rose too?

Choices: Jathen (Way Walkers, J. Leigh) or Alec Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments)

Oh my god. Out of all the characters on my list, why these two? The two that I completely love! Urgh! I’d probably have to go with Alec because he stole my heart in the first book. But then Jath… I never thought a tag could be so mean. I’m going with Alec despite feeling bad about it!

4. You’ve been chosen for the Hunger Games, who would most likely volunteer in your place?

Choices: Nona Grey (Book of the Ancestor, Mark Lawrence) or Hermione Grange (J.K Rowling)

Ooh bad-ass ladies in their own right. I’d love to say Nona because she would actually win it hands down, but I can’t really see her as the volunteering type – unless we’re already really good friends. So I’m going to have to go with Hermione because I guess she is just nicer?

5. You’re stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

Choices: Fool (Robin Hobb, various) or Crys Tailorson (Godblind by Anna Stephens)

I swear this random picker is not very random – or that’s my fault for only including some of my favourite characters, I should have re-read the questions first. Hmm… I’m actually going to go with Crys here, although he wouldn’t let himself be sacrificed. He has the advantage of kinda being a god, so that means he can come back, right?

6. You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own tv show of course), who is your sidekick?

Choices: Will Herondale (The Infernal Devices) or Will (The Dragon Lord’s by Jon Hollins).

This is easy – Will! Actually, this one is quite easy – Will (not Herondale). He might be coming up with the plans on the sly, but this Will is much more side-kick material than Herondale is.

7. You’re a manager of an Avocado admiring company, who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Choices: Roran (The Inheritance Cycle, Christopher Paolini) or Jalan (The Red Queen’s War, Mark Lawrence)

This is certainly my easiest yet. Jalan’s gotta go. Our favourite self-absorbed prince doesn’t always do too well with winning people over. Roran, however, convinced an entire village to follow him into the unknown… No-brainer this time!

8. You’ve just finished a book in which your favorite character dies, which character is most likely to comfort you?

Choices: Char (The First Dragon Rider, Ava Richardson) or Ben (the Extracted trilogy by R.R Haywood)

Hmm. I think…Char? Ben would find some logic in it and go back in time to convince the writer not to kill them. They have a way of refusing to accept death in that series! But Char is compassionate and knows what it is like to have destroyed dreams…just how you feel when your favourite character goes.

9. Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Choices: Baz (Carry on by Rainbow Rowell) or Ron Weasley (J.K Rowling)

Baz all the way! He defines ‘popular clique’ whereas Ron is just…Ron?

11. You’ve just found an upcoming booktube star? Who would most likely be?

Choices: Murtagh (The Inheritance Cycle, Christopher Paolini) or Kip (The Lightbringer Series, Brent Weeks)

Murtagh. He’s got the confidence to do something like this. Kip, bless him, would be avoiding the spotlight the best he could.

12. Sleepover time! Unfortunately you can only invite one person, who would you invite?

Choices: Tessa (TID, Cassandra Clare) or Dutiful (The Tawny Man trilogy, Robin Hobb).

While it would be very cool having a sleepover with a prince, it’s going to have to be Tessa this time. I can’t really see Dutiful letting his guard down whereas Tessa and I could just gossip about her beautiful boys all night. Plus Dutiful could get into your dreams…

13. Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the father/mother?

Choices: Balur (The Dragon Lord’s, Jon Hollins) or  Fitz (Robin Hobb)

Hmm…a dashing hero or an 8ft lizard? Definitely Fitz – besides, we know his passions can get the better of him sometimes when he is feeling particularly emotional or vulnerable. He’d definitely be a considerate lover.

14. You’ve just written a super important text. Who would ‘see’ it, but not reply?

Choices: Jem (TID, Cassandra Clare) or  Magnus (TMI, Cassandra Clare)

Ooh. Magnus. Only because Jem would never leave anyone hanging while Magnus would just get distracted by pretty things (aka Alec). Jem would reply, Magnus would just make an entrance three days later.

15. You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum’s been replaced by..who?!

Choices: Gavin Guile (The Lightbringer Series, Brent Weeks) or Niell Torvald (The First Dragon Rider, Ava Richardson)

Gavin. Niell is more brother material – he’s far too naive and innocent to be able to replace anyone’s mother. But Gavin kind of has paternal instincts and is (sort-of) a parent. Breakfast would certainly be fun with him attempting to show off.

I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun with a tag before! Some of these choices were really hard and yet I was using an automated picker site. Who would you pick if you were faced with these questions?
