I love spring! All seasons have their pros and cons, but there is something about coming out of the cold and dark months that makes me feel inspired. Fresh growth is everywhere, flowers are coming out and I feel ready to achieve!
I’m the type of person who has a tidy-room-tidy-mind mindset. I try and keep my space tidy at all times: still living at home means I’m restricted to my bedroom. I can’t focus when there is clutter around me.
That being said, I love a spring clean! Going through my drawers, sorting everything out properly, always motivates me into achieving things.
Spring cleans can be time consuming though. When inspiration hits, I find there aren’t enough hours in the day. So here’s a few of my top things for welcoming in spring:
Open a window
It’s been cold and dull for months. As soon as the days were warm enough at the weekend, I threw my window open for a few hours. It’s such an easy way of freshening things up and airing any space through. Blows the cobwebs away without you having to do anything.
Dust the awkward places
While I may not have the chance to do a really thorough clean, there are a few spots that I know I miss every time. The top of my wardrobe, my bed frame and my skirting boards to name a couple. There’s something very satisfying to be said for finally getting to those awkward spots!
I love clean sheets! But more than that, I love it when my bedding has had the chance to dry outside – it smells and feels so good. I know this isn’t practical for everyone, but never underestimate the power of clean bedding.
Buy some flowers
Every time I buy myself some, I realise how much I love them and wonder why I don’t do it as often as I should. But with the sun coming in, I love looking up and seeing a burst of colour next to me. It brightens the room, and my mood. My favourites are spray carnations, which is great because they’re not expensive and they last for ages (my current ones have been going for three weeks so far!)
Revisit your goals
Being inspired is great, but if you don’t know what you’re working towards, you can end up not channelling that motivation and losing it. As soon as I start pushing myself, I take a look at my to-do lists, I see how organised I am with the blog and I think back to what I wanted to achieve this year. If everything comes together, great. If not, maybe this is the time to have a refocus and use that inspiration to truly drive you towards what you’re hoping to achieve.
These are just a few of the things I like to do when spring arrives. It keeps me motivated and inspired!
