Plot: Kara is grappling with the sacrifices she’s made and deciding if she should give up her human identity altogether.  Being human and vulnerable is hard.  Maybe she’s better off embracing her alien DNA and only being the “Girl of Steel.” As Kara struggles with her path forward, she continues to work with the DEO to battle all threats to National City, including new villains, Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar), and the “Worldkiller,” known as Reign (new series regular Odette Annable).

Highlights of 2019

I’ve read a few wrap-up posts lately and seeing people celebrate what they have achieved this year inspired me. I wanted to do one of my own, but as well as looking at what have been strong posts for me, I also wanted to see what they taught me.

This has been a year of growth. A Rambling Reviewer is almost twice the size as it was last year, which makes me so grateful to everyone who takes the time to stop by, especially those who leave me a like or drop a comment. It keeps me blogging to be honest.

I wanted to break this down into different categories in regards to what has done well this year and what lessons each post has taught me about myself as a blogger.

Television Review: The 100, Season 6

Synopsis: For five seasons, our heroes did whatever it took to survive on Earth… and nothing worked. Their inability to overcome the instinct to fight caused the destruction of the planet. Now, after 125 years in cryosleep, traveling through the stars, our heroes wake up to a new home, a final gift from their dearly departed friend Monty. A place where they can try again. They’re given one simple task: do better. Be the good guys.

With this credo in mind, Clarke and Bellamy (series stars ELIZA TAYLOR and BOB MORLEY) lead a group down to this mysterious world, hoping to start anew, to finally find peace. But old habits die hard, and when they discover an idyllic society, it quickly becomes clear that not everything on Sanctum is as perfect as it seems. Despite their determination to do better, threats both seen and unseen, internal and external, will once again force our heroes to fight for their lives and the future of humanity.

Television Review: Supergirl, Season 2

Plot: Having left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant at Catco Worldwide Media in order to figure out what she really wants to do, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) continues to work with Hank Henshaw (aka Martian Manhunter) and her adoptive sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) at the DEO as Supergirl – protecting the citizens of National City and searching for her missing father Jeremiah (Dean Cain) and the secret research lab Project Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with her Kyrptonian cousin Kal El – aka Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) – to battle new villains both terrestrial and extraterrestrial, from the DC Universe, as she strives to balance her personal life with friends/allies James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and more with her busy life as a new Super Hero in SUPERGIRL Season Two.

Television Review: Star Trek: Discovery, Season 1

Plot: STAR TREK: DISCOVERY follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series features a new ship and new characters while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Television Review: Grimm, Season 5

Programme: Grimm, Series 5

Synopsis: In this season, Nick and Adalind (Claire Coffee) return home with their newborn baby Kelly. Nick tries to balance his responsibilities and powers with the help of Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) to save Rosalee (Bree Turner) when she suddenly goes missing.

Television Review: Arrow & Flash (Mid-Season)

I’m so impressed with myself there are a couple of series I’m actually up-to-date with! This has never happened before – I’m always playing catch-up.

I’ve also never been caught with a mid-season break before. I expected both Arrow and Flash to come back straight after Christmas. Now it’s near the end of Feb, I’m guessing I’m going to have to wait a little longer.

I had so much fun writing my mini film-reviews the other week, I figured why not do the same here: mid-season recaps! This also translates into reminding myself what happened…

Television Review: The 100, Season 5

Synopsis: In the aftermath of Praimfaya, the 100 must begin again. With Season Five, our heroes have to examine their responsibility to the new place they call home, and the future generations who will inhabit it. Can they begin again and celebrate what remains, or will the frailties of human nature cost them their one chance to rise from the ashes?

Television Review: The Flash, Season 4

Synopsis: Barry Allen lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash. But Barry wasn’t the only person who was given extraordinary abilities that night. The dark matter also created meta-humans, many of whom have wreaked havoc on the city. New threats also arrived from parallel earths and dimensional breaches, under the direction of evil speedsters Zoom and Savitar. With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West, his fiancée Iris West, and scientist friends at S.T.A.R Labs, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon and Julian Albert, as well as Harrison Wells from an alternate Earth, Barry races to protect the people of Central City from these powerful threats.
