Up and Coming: April

Resolutions

Another month gone. Rather too quickly for my liking. Things really seem to be one extreme or another for me at the moment. I’m either so tired that I’m getting literally nothing achieved or I have a complete creative spree and churn out chapters and posts in a day that set me up for weeks. I certainly know what feeling I prefer.

I’m trying to make a few life changes at the moment, so hopefully there will be lots of positive things to come in the next couple of months. Fingers crossed, at least.

Touch wood, at the moment I’m pretty organised on here thanks to the Easter weekend allowing me to catch up with some films and posts, so I’m hoping to be able to stay on track this month.

Here’s what is coming:

April 2

Books: I have such a reading addiction at the moment, it’s so hard to narrow down what I want to read for reviewing purposes. Having re-read The Gargoyle for last week, I’m hoping to read Quality of Silence by Rosamund Lupton. It’s sitting there looking at me at the moment. I kept seeing it in WHSmiths window, so figured I would get it from the library.

I also have a few Netgalley books to get through. I’m never going to get my percentage up if I keep requesting at the speed I am. But this month I’m hoping to get through Way Walkers by J Leigh and The Dragon Chronicles by a range of authors. Typically, they are both books about dragons, so I hope I’m in a fantasy mood this month!

Films: I am finding it harder and harder each month to decide what to review – why isn’t there any good films being released? Anyone got any recommendations?

This month, I’m going to try Birdman after it being nominated for an Oscar last year. Time to see what the hype is about, although that is normally a sign that I won’t like something if I’m honest.

April 1I also want to try Inside Out after hearing great things about it and The Last Witch Hunter simply because it looks interesting.

My final film is Everest. I’ve been curious about this one for months since researching it for an interview, so I figured I would give it a go.

So there’s the plan. I’m wondering whether to do an additional post on a Sunday that basically reports back on what I’ve been reading and watching that week. Not everything I read and watch gets reviewed, so it might be a good way of seeing who is reading/watching the same things as me. I’m not sure yet though – what do you think? I’m worried that half the time, I will forget and it will just be a stress as I can barely stay on top of the normal posts.

I shall cross that bridge when I come to it. There is the plan for my month. What have you got coming up in April? Let me know!

  1. That notebook! Pink’s not my favourite colour, but I’d put up with it just for that.

Birdman is good although strange. Everest starts slow, but the second half is amazing and The last witch hunter sucks in my opinion. Look forward to hearing what you think!
