Book Tag: Beauty and the Beast Book Tag

Book Tags

Every time I do a book tag, I have normally spent a considerable length of time browsing Google, looking up different tags and reading them through to see if I can actually answer the questions!

This one caught my eye because of the title more than anything. I discovered it over at Dreamland Book Blog and strongly recommend that you go and check out their blog: I love it!

But now, I’m going to cast my mind back through tales as old as time in order to give you some answers!

1. Oh what a guy, Gaston!

A villain you can’t help but love:

Murtagh from Eragon. Does he count as a villain when he is acting against his will? Well, he’s on the wrong side of the war and part of that was through some of his own choices, so I’m counting him for this question!

But yes, I love his character: in-depth, flawed and makes you just want to give him a hug most of the time.

2. Here’s where she meets Prince Charming…

Your OTP:

Book Haul 1

Simon and Baz from Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On. I’ve only read the book once (it’s high on my re-read list!) but I just squealed the whole way through waiting for those idiots to realise that they didn’t hate each other and actually felt something quite different. And yes, there was lots of squealing when they did finally realise.

3. I want much more than this provincial life!

A character destined for greater things:

Kip from The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks. Neglected, abused and bullied, Kip doesn’t realise just how powerful he is. Even when he starts his journey to become the hero that we all love, he only begins training because they need to occupy him and make him look useful.

If only they knew just what he was destined to do… The series isn’t finished yet and I won’t spoil it, but there is certainly a journey and a half in store for him!

4. Be our Guest!

A book that made you hungry:

Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris

This one really made me stop and think. I’m going to go with The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan. I think the title gives away why! I don’t recall being ravenously hungry while reading it, but I did fancy chocolate for quite some time afterwards…Sorry, diet!

5. Beauty and the Beast.

Opposites Attract:

Dragon Legends 1

Sebastian Smith and Thea Flamma from The Darkening Returns series by Ava Richardson. I’m currently reading the third book while writing this and so far they haven’t got together per se. But she is a high-born lady determined to prove herself and he is the blacksmith’s son, bewildered at why he was even chosen.

Their friendship works for this one even if no actual romance occurs: they become a good team and will risk everything for each other, despite their rocky start!

6. But there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see.

A character who is more than they appear:

Harry Potter

Y’know, I might go with Neville Longbottom for this one. I know he appears the hero that he is by the end of the books, but he was always the one that stood up for what was right and was completely overlooked for the majority of the books! You go, Neville!

7. I was innocent and certain, now I’m wiser and unsure.

A book that changed you in some way:

The Year of Saying Yes 1

The Year of Saying Yes by Hannah Doyle. This book really touched me and left me completely inspired to make some changes in my life. I saw myself in the character and it opened my eyes to some of my own weaknesses and flaws, and just how much I let them control me. It left me quite moved and determined to do things differently!

8. Kill the beast!

A book you picked up because of the hype:

I have to admit that I’ve done this with a few books, mainly because I just want to see what they were about. Sometimes it works (Turtles All the Way Down), sometimes it doesn’t (Girl on the Train).

But the book I’m going to pick here is He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly. I spent so long hearing about it, then decided to get it out of the library. It actually surprised me how much I enjoyed it – hype normally makes me dubious about a book – but this one was well worth it!

9. I’ll never shake away the pain.

A book/moment that always makes you cry:

Any book that touches me on an emotional level always scores good points for me. I was going to go for Harry Potter as there are several scenes in that one that make me well up.

But instead, I’m going with Way Walkers: Tangled Paths by J Leigh. Oh my goodness, this book broke my heart on so many levels in a very short space of time! I think I’m still grieving: I didn’t see it coming and it definitely made me cry!

There we have it! My answers to the Beauty and the Beast tag! Feel free to give it a go yourself and don’t forget to let me know in the comments if you do so that I can come and have a nose at your answers!

I hope you enjoyed mine. Has anyone else read any of the books mentioned? Let me know!
